What is the first thing you think of when you think of brick? For many people the first thing that comes to mind is two brick over one and so on. This photo shows an example of an all rowlock wall laid in a Flemish Bond pattern. A soldier brick tops the wall.

When we finish a custom project, we want to walk away knowing there is not another like it. Every project we do inspires new ideas and the desire to build. Let us make your project unique.

The pattern in this photo was inspired by the "Della Robbia Weave" pattern. We do not know the true name of the pattern so we are calling it "Broken Basket Weave". There are many ways to lay a brick or stone and we love a challenge.

Random Ashlar pattern shaped and pitched onsite. Midwest Buff stone from "The House of Rock" in Merriam, KS.

Highland Grey Brick from Acme Brick. Kingsize brick laid in Half bond (Not third bond as the brick are designed for). By laying kingsize brick in half bond you get a look closer to modular brick but kingsize brick are more economical. Stone quoined corners and Ashlar Bond stone mock window. The columns are header bond chequer work with a stacked bat along each side.

Here is an example of "Diaper work" infilled with basket weave. Do not rush into picking your materials or patterns for your project until you have had a chance to look around. Want a hint? Look to the past.

This style of stonework can be found on many old structures throughout the midwest. Three types of stone mingled together to give the "Oldworld" look. This style of stone often incorporated large square stones around the windows, doors, and corners and then the stonework as shown above would be filled in between the larger stones. Today this is not done since the normal install is a 5" to 6" veneer. The stone above is natural stone that is cut very thin so it can be installed using the same methods as the fake stone which is culture using an artificial production facility. The advantage is you get a natural product and not painted concrete. (Stone from Robinson Brick Company)

"Della Robbia Weave" This is a very rare bond that can really make a statement. The center piece is called a "Rossette". The mortar is not tooled and left flat and brushed to give the "Oldworld" look and works well with the tumbled clay brick pavers. Note: We always encourage our customers to use a natural product. Concrete pavers do not stack up to clay pavers in beauty or durability. In our opinion concrete pavers are great in road medians, not the backyard.
